OMG you guys! Just when we thought we had finally recovered from the global phenomenon that was Kenergy, Ryan Gosling just blasted off and found a new way to live in our minds rent free. And this time it involves something called a placenta onesie. Yes you read that right.
The scene was a packed Hall H at San Diego Comic Con, the energy was absolutely electric and the biggest star in the building was without a doubt Ryan Gosling. He was there with the masterminds behind his new sci fi movie Project Hail Mary and he came to do what he does best serve looks and drop the most iconic quotes imaginable.
While the panel was dishing on the super serious high stakes drama of the film which sounds intense a lone astronaut on a mission to save Earth the conversation turned to the space suits. And that is when the magic happened.
When asked about his futuristic astronaut gear Gosling leaned into the mic with that signature smirk and said it was less dashing hero and more well a placenta onesie.

“Its a very technical piece of gear I am sure but when you are wearing it for 12 hours a day it feels very womb like. Its basically a placenta onesie” Gosling joked to a roaring crowd. “But a very expensive one that keeps you from exploding in the vacuum of space so you know it has its perks.”
And just like that with one hilarious and bizarrely specific description Ryan Gosling perfectly captured the vibe of Project Hail Mary. This isn’t just another dark and broody space movie. Guided by directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller the geniuses behind Spider Man Into the Spider-Verse and The Lego Movie this film is packing as much heart and humor as it is nail biting suspense.
Sources at the panel tell us the whole room was buzzing. Gosling proved that he is taking the drama of the role seriously while still being the charming and relatable superstar we are all obsessed with. He emphasized that the humor is what grounds the story. His character is just a regular guy a science teacher in a completely insane situation so of course he is going to have some weird observations about his government-issued space pajamas. Lets be real Ryan Gosling is on a whole other level right now. After his Oscar nominated turn in the Barbie movie the entire world has been waiting to see what this Hollywood A lister would do next. Would he find another role that could possibly match the cultural impact of Ken?
Well strapping himself into a rocket to save all of humanity is a pretty good start.
This role shows Gosling’s incredible range. He is not just a pretty face or a comedy king he is a deeply compelling actor who can carry a massive high concept film on his own. The Project Hail Mary movie based on the bestselling book by Andy Weir who also wrote The Martian is set to be an epic survival story. Think Gravity meets Cast Away but with Gosling’s unique wit. The Comic Con panel made it clear that while the visuals will be stunning and the action will be intense the heart of the film is one man’s journey at the edge of extinction.

By the time the panel ended social media was already on fire. Placenta Onesie was trending on X and fans were going wild. Gosling didnt just promote a movie he created a moment.
