Timeless Style: Henry Cavill’s Watch Collection Could Rival James Bond’s

It’s been a few months since Henry Cavill hung up his cape as the DC Universe’s Superman, following the changing of the guard. With fans of Cavill’s Clark Kent in movie-mourning, the British actor recently remedied his on-screen absence by teasing a first look at Guy Ritchie’s upcoming hit, Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. Order restored. The action spy thriller isn’t hitting screens until 2024 though, so other than rewatch Black Adam and further fuel the whispers of the next Bond, what do we do in the meantime? Lust over Henry Cavill’s watch collection, of course.

While the DC Universe bids farewell to the actor, the horological world happily welcomes him with open arms for his epic hoard of timepieces. Delving into the roster of the star’s classics amassed over his career and is it just us, or do all fingers point to Bond?

Second to Superman, Cavill earned his stripes in the public eyes as the otherworldly Geralt of Rivia, a mutated monster hunter in Netflix’s The Witcher. Following the launch of the first season, Cavill took to the spotlight on the red carpet donning a Bremont ALT1-WT World Timer. Donning the British timepiece for the 2019 premiere, complete with a black dial and matching leather strap, the Jersey-born star paid homage to his heritage in a subtle nod.

Hear us out: he’s starring in Ritchie’s upcoming epic, billed to be a true story that follows a wartime organisation proposed to be founded by Winston Churchill and none other than 007 author, Ian Fleming himself. A sure coincidence? To round off the rumour mill, much like the secret agent’s affinity for Omega, Cavill boasts a penchant for the luxury Swiss watchmakers, too. Spotted in the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean at the Man of Steel press conference in Japan back in 2013, Cavill rounded off his collection with the enamoured Omega De Ville Hour Vision Co-Axial Annual Calendar Watch, in 18K red gold at the UK premiere.

And it’s not just a novelty for the red carpets either, with Cavill captured out and about adorned in Omega, as far back as 2012. A Bond in the making this whole time? The 007 dots seem to be aligning.

A love of LeCoultre

Perhaps the opus of Cavill’s collection, an ensemble as eclectic as his roster of roles, is the rose gold Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris. Debuting the watch in his usual film premiere fashion in 2018 for the launch of Mission: Impossible – Fallout in Singapore, the timepiece typifies a man of action. Switching from the protagonist to the bad guy in the MI thriller, Cavill similarly switched up his watch of choice, opting for the JLC, and later becoming a friend of the brand.

The extra Avenger

Let it be known that Cavill’s love of Breitling came before his departure from the DC Universe, so fear not for his love of the Breitling Super Avenger. There’s no DC-Marvel segue about to ensue for the star – merely a love for the Swiss luxury makers. Especially as he took it in tow to the Immortals panel at a Comic-Con event in 2011. Superman remains loyal and Cavill does just that.

From Geralt to Garmin

With a watch collection saluting the mechanical finesse of traditional Swiss watchmaking, Cavill veers on the element of surprise, much like his acting pursuits. The outlier in his collection, Cavill bares his wrists to the utilitarian with a Garmin Forerunner 955 Solar, and previously a Polar Vantage V2. Taking to Instagram to subtly showcase the model, while carefully slicing through a hunk of beef (never a more apt time to measure the heart rate) Cavill confirms that practicality is just as important as presentation (another Bond clue?), and is the true crux of his watch collection.
