According to Hemsworth, the repetitive nature of blockbuster filmmaking can sap an actor’s energy and excitement. Large-scale action sequences, in particular, require constant resets and multiple takes over many days.
“You’re often repeating the same lines or doing the same stunts over and over again. There’s a lot of time just sitting around waiting. The biggest challenge is keeping your focus and enthusiasm up through all that,” he said.
Whereas smaller films have much quicker production schedules and more variety day-to-day, Hemsworth compared Marvel films to “like being a soldier going to war.” The shoots are epic in length and scale, requiring endurance from the entire cast and crew.
“There’s a lot of it that is like, ‘Oh god, here we go again’ when you start that lengthy process,” he admitted.

“You’re smothered by it all. The enormity of it will wear you down,” he said of the arduous press commitments.
